Term 4: Week 7

Thursday: 17 Novemvber 2011

Group times/ Language and Literacy:

This week we learnt about the letter 'l' and the sound that it makes.    We read 'Little White Owl' , 'Little and Large', 'Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum' , 'The Boy and the Toy', 'Pocket Dogs go To The Beach'    and 'Superpotomouse'    just to name a few.

We made a rocket, animal houses and houses with glue, sticky tape, boxes and collage materials.   We did some threading using patty papers and some coloured pasta. We also made crowns from shiny corrugated paper then we decided to dress-up and be princesses and kings wearing crowns and necklaces.

Sandpit

We are having a lot of fun in the sandpit with water these days.   We make tunnels and lakes and rivers and islands and castles with moats around them and sharks in the moats!   Sorry again about all the dirty clothes coming home!

Wet Day

We had a lot of fun.   We had slip and slide with some plastic and some soap on the plastic.   We had bubbles in the pools and we had a sprinkler. We had the best time.   We made mud and mud pies.   The best of all we had a lovely ice-cream, not pretend, ones like in our pretend play but we had real ones yum!!!!

What do you need to bring?

  • Swimmers or spare clothes (Sun safe please).   Your child needs to be wearing their swimming clothes to the centre when they arrive.
  • A towel
  • Sunscreen already applied.
  • (Please name everything)

The next wet day will be Monday 21st.

Please return clothes that have been borrowed.

Presentation Night

We will be having this night on the 30th November in the school hall.    This year it is hoped that we will be having a nativity scene.   It will also be fancy dress.   Could your child come dressed up in something to do with Christmas?    We hope to have Mary and Joseph.    The baby Jesus will be a doll. We will teach the children some Christmas Carols.   If you would like to help us on this night or if you have any suggestions please let us know.    It will start around 7.00pm and finish around 8.00pm -8.30pm.   Please bring a plate to share for supper.   It usually is a lot of fun.

On this evening the children will be given their scrap books and folios.   In the folios will be a Transition Statement, this should be handed to your Child's Prep teacher. Also your child will receive their Graduation Certificate if they are in Pre-Prep and a Character Award.

Library

Thursday is our Library Day.   Please provide your child with a library bag and return any books due. Thursday 17 November will be the last borrowing day.   Could you please return all books by the

24 November.

Don't Forget

Head lice is an ongoing problem so please keep an eye on your child's hair.

And treat it as necessary.

  Yassi

Still haven't found Yassi's book. Please check to see if you have it.   The photos are very valuable to us.

Parent Involvement

A big thank you to Mrs Carrol and Mrs Parravicini who came in last week and made us Apple Turnovers.

YUM!!!

  Kids Matter

As you will see I have sent out another Kids Matter survey from the Flinders University.   This is the final data collection and is very important to the   overall research being conducted by the Flinders University.   Please take the time to complete the survey and return it to the Centre.   I will remind you in the coming weeks.   Thank you so much for your input. Your time and effort in this will, in the future, improve Child Care Services Australia wide.

  Thanks
